Sponsored by Shinshu-Buddhist The Dialogue Between Pure Land Buddhism and Islam
2015.3.20 (Fri)
Continuing from yesterday, we got a chance to introduce Islam to Buddhist monks. The report is as follows:
From the questions raised by the coordinator I made an occasion to introduce Islam, then we performed the dialogue between Pure Land Buddhism and Islam, and last I got time for questions and answers. Thanks to the coordinator who skillfully distributed the questions, I was able to correct the misunderstanding of Islam that many Japanese have and to refer to the problems that Islam currently has.
On both days, among the questions I received, there were questions such as (why to destruct the Buddhas of Bamiyan) or (why does Islam and Christianity always have conflict in the contact areas) which I answered by explaining that Islam is primarily a religion of peace. But there was a refutation by a person who was not convinced by the explanation. Also, when I present the opinion concluding that violence of DAISH is a power struggle in the Islamic society, they were astonished.
I think the root of all problems is that the right Islam is not completed in all the 1.6 billion Muslim round the world. We make duaa for them one by one to be able to walk the right road that Allah desires based on Qur’an and Hadith, and to be able to devote themselves to daily Jihad. And that even Muslims who undergo political and economic suppressions to be granted the chance to learn Islam rightly. And then to avoid debating with people who don’t talk without prejudicing Islam and to have the courage to greet them with peace.
【And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace】(Quran 25:63)
